Joe and Warren finished digging the trenches and installing the leach field components last week and the inspector gave us the thumbs up. Now if the rain will just let up for a few days they can bury the leach field and finish grading around the house.
This was the next to last inspection by the county before the final inspection for the Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.). We will also need a final electrical inspection from a 3rd party.

Your septic field runs across a side hill. Did this cause any problems or concerns?
I’m used to seeing an outlet pipe from the tank joined to a T. This T becomes the distribution header. Then the weeping tile pipes branch off of this header. Can you explain how the distribution box and water leveling dials work in your system?

Mysteries abound.
The pipe at the top of the photo is the inlet from the septic tank. It discharges into the distribution box where it should spill into each of the four branches equally. Each branch goes to its own trench. Four outlets, four trenches. The leveling dials just make it easier to ensure the liquid is equally distributed to all four outlets. Without the leveling dials, you’d have to make sure the box itself is level, which is a bit more work.
As for installing a leach field on a hill, individual trenches have to be fairly level, but not the entire system. Of course every jurisdiction has it’s own rules, regulations and hoops to jump through. Check with your own local officials for the real scoop on poop.
